Successful order picking with pick-by-vision

Leifheit processes up to 7,000 – 8,000 ordered items every day at their site in Zuzenhausen in south-west Germany. With a total warehouse space of over 10,000 m2 and 1,800 different storage units, order picking is a real challenge here. But with Picavi’s pick-by-vision system, Leifheit has been able to increase productivity significantly. Thanks to these good experiences in Zuzenhausen, Leifheit, one of the leading international brand manufacturers of household goods, is now introducing smart picking at an additional site.

The task for Leifheit: boost efficiency and make employees’ lives easier

The high demands in dispatch and the constantly growing order volume meant that order picking performance needed a boost. Neither conventional MDT hand scanners or pick-by-voice were up to the task. Leifheit therefore had to look for a future-ready solution that could both increase efficiency and provide ergonomic relief for staff.

The quick shift to Picavi

In order to maintain performance while pick-by-vision was being introduced, pickers began using the system alternately for periods of a week. Thanks to the simple training, pick-by-vision was soon able to replace the previously used pick-by-voice technology without any drop in performance during the transition. This was due in no small part to the Picavi team, who provided quick and flexible support to the users in this time.

Satisfied users and plans for expansion

The new smart picking solution helped quickly achieve the required boost in performance. It is now easier to deal with order peaks and staff are deployed much more efficiently. Compared to the previous pick-by-voice system, pick-by-vision is also better for the pickers. Leifheit now uses Picavi to process all orders at its German logistics center. The next roll-out is already underway, with the company currently installing the new system at a site in the Czech Republic.
